On my day to day travels here in the San Francisco Bay Area, everywhere I go, a majority of people are fixated on their smart phones. According to Google, 94% of internet users search for local information on their smart phones and 77% search for information on their smart phone even when they are at home.
Even with these statistics, there is still a big chunk of websites out there that are not considered mobile friendly. Because of this, these websites could be missing out on key opportunities to reach their target audience and improving their capabilities to deliver services to their key stakeholders.
According to Marketing Land article early last year, only 11.8% of the top 10,000 websites maybe mobile friendly or responsive. For those of you who are not familiar with the term Responsive, this means that a website is built to be seen with ease on any type of device (desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile device).
If your site is not mobile friendly:
Talk to your web designer or other person who built your website.
If you are planning on upgrading your website, you need to make sure you build it so it is easy enough for your users to find what they need and setup up analytics to make sure you know how it is working for your mobile users.
Since Google is the primary and biggest search engine, for optimal SEO, it is in your best interest to make sure your website is responsive and that you do not use redirects that go to another separate website for your mobile users.
